Tekville and Upstage Partner to Develop and Expand AI Services for Education

Tekville announced on August 4 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with AI technology company Upstage to develop artificial intelligence services tailored to Korea’s education environment and explore joint business opportunities.

The two companies signed the agreement electronically on July 24 and agreed to collaborate on the development and advancement of AI services that can be effectively used in real educational settings by combining Upstage’s AI technologies with Tekville’s expertise in education.

Under the agreement, the two companies plan to cooperate in several areas, including applying and advancing AI models and technologies for educational services; validating AI services suited to school environments and identifying practical use cases; developing and pursuing joint projects and services for offices of education, schools, and public institutions; building secure AI service environments that take privacy protection and data security into account; and expanding AI-powered education services through joint validation, pilot programs, and promotional activities.

In particular, the partnership will go beyond simply applying AI technologies to existing education services. The two companies will work together to identify and validate services that reflect actual school workflows and the ways teachers and students use technology in educational settings.

Tekville operates a range of education platforms and services, including TeacherVille, a distance education training institute for teachers; SSamDongNe, a teacher content platform; TeacherMall, an online marketplace specializing in public education; and Chathess, an AI and EdTech marketplace. Through these platforms, the company has provided content and services designed to meet the needs of schools and educators.

More recently, Tekville has been expanding its AI and EdTech business around MyCl, an AI service specialized for public education that supports teachers across the full range of their work, including instruction, assessment, student records, and administrative tasks. Through MyClass, Tekville is helping schools and local education authorities accelerate their digital transformation.

Upstage supports AI transformation across a wide range of industries through its proprietary large language models (LLMs) and document-processing technologies.

“AI services for education require more than strong technological performance. It is equally important to understand how schools operate and the educational context in which teachers and students use these services,” said Hyung-se Lee, CEO of Tekville. “By combining Upstage’s AI technologies with Tekville’s accumulated expertise in education, we will work to develop AI services specifically designed for education that teachers and students can use safely and conveniently.”

Going forward, the two companies will discuss specific business initiatives, roles, and timelines and, where necessary, formalize joint projects through separate contracts or written agreements.
