Hyung-se Lee, CEO of Tekville Education" : To Strengthen Public Education Competitiveness, Leading Private Companies Must Emerge"

“To strengthen the competitiveness of public education, relying solely on public initiatives has its limits. Collaboration with private enterprises is essential to create representative education companies,” said Hyung-se Lee, CEO of Tekville Education, in an interview on the 4th at the company’s headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
I expressed a strong commitment to expanding the public education market. “Korean education companies are primarily divided between private tutoring companies and textbook publishers,” he said, adding, “Very few companies enter the public education sector. Education is often viewed as a purely public good, which weakens the perspective of it as an industry. Despite the sector’s scale, the environment for industrial growth is still underdeveloped.”
Since founding Tekville.com (now Tekville Education) in 2001, I has led digital education initiatives focused on public education, including the TeacherVille Remote Education Training Center for teacher digital competency development, the teacher knowledge-sharing marketplace Ssamdongne, the public education e-commerce platform Teacher Mall, and the integrated EdTech marketplace Chathess.
Tekville Education has built a network of 770,000 teacher members through Teacherville Remote Education Training Center, pioneering the public education market. The center operates programs such as the T.O.U.C.H Teacher Group and the Visiting School Consulting Project, under the Ministry of Education’s initiatives to strengthen teacher digital competencies.
Based on these efforts, the center has received the Minister of Education Award and has been recognized as an outstanding institution by the Korea Education and Research Information Service for eight consecutive years.
In addition, Tekville Education operates Ssamdongne, Teacher Mall, and Chathess. Ssamdongne provides lesson material sales, online/offline teacher gatherings, and instructor recruitment services. Teacher Mall offers teaching aids, educational products, automated budget-matching, and administrative payment requests, along with a patented Smart Cart service. Chathess integrates over 250 AI and EdTech products applicable across all subjects on a single platform.
Over 20 years, these initiatives have enabled Tekville Education to accumulate extensive experience in teacher training and to develop customized content and educational products reflecting real classroom needs and teacher participation.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I explained, “When teachers nationwide faced the sudden shift to online classes, we produced and provided remote learning content and related training in the shortest time possible through Teacherville and Ssamdongne.” He emphasized, “Collaborating with countless teachers to create and share various online lesson cases confirmed the strength and resilience of Tekville Education.”
He added, “Our achievements are grounded in how closely we work with the field and the trust we’ve built. Going forward, we aim to grow as an educational partner trusted by teachers, schools, students, and parents alike.”
The company plans to continue online training to enhance teacher capabilities while fostering a collaborative environment where teachers can voluntarily participate and share lessons via the Teacherville platform.
I also serves as President of the Korea Digital Education Association. In this role, he stressed, “To grow the education industry, a cooperative ecosystem between public and private sectors must be established.”
He highlighted, “The private sector has been quickest to detect classroom issues and reflect real-time feedback from teachers and learners.
Diverse content adoption and AI/digital education services should be provided, allowing schools to expand budgets and exercise autonomy to select tools that meet varying needs.”
I is committed to ensuring that public policies reflect field demands and that the education industry grows sustainably. He plans to consolidate private sector voices to create dialogue channels with the government, conveying real-world classroom perspectives.
Tekville Education aims to revolutionize education administration and position itself as a public education-based AI and digital education company through MyClass, a public-education-focused agentic AI platform.
MyClass automates school administrative tasks such as lesson planning, assessment schedules, school notices, counseling reports, and meeting minutes. It supports multiple large language models (LLMs) including ChatGPT and Gemini, allowing teachers to choose tools based on their needs and purposes.
I explained, “MyClass was developed based on 24 years of experience operating the Teacherville Remote Education Training Center, coupled with data from services optimized for schools like Ssamdongne and Teacher Mall. It’s the result of deep understanding of teachers’ daily work, challenges, and needs.”
MyClass will be showcased at the 2025 EdTech Korea Fair, held from September 18–20 at COEX, Seoul. Teacher feedback collected during the event will be used to enhance features and establish an AI-driven administrative culture in education, with a goal of reaching 1,000 schools by next year.
I emphasized, “Even large corporations with abundant capital and technology cannot guarantee success in the vertical market of AI and digital education without expertise. Tekville’s strength lies in our unparalleled expertise in AI and digital education.”
